All About Jesus

FROM THE BOOK OF JOHN-John was actually Jesus’s favorite. John was the apostle leaning on His( Jesus) chest at “The Last Supper” picture of  Da Vince, which was made a fictitious story that confused a lot of readers and viewers. It was John whom Jesus was revealed and was shown the “Apocalypse or Revelation”.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God.2 He was with God made; without him nothing was made that has been made.4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God (John 1:1-12)

STARTING POINT OF JESUS-It says in John 1,” In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He (Jesus-kaya sabi nga Niya, bago pa si Moses Ako ay Ako na) was with God in the beginning.  Jesus is the word of God. Remember that the Word is with God in the beginning. He created everything in Heaven and all things on earth through the Word of God. All things were created through Him (Word). The Word of God is powerful, because everything that God said and command is His Word. Many says, that Jesus is not God. John 1:1 says that the Word was God. It’s hard to understand the complexity of God, but to those who seek God, He reveals Himself. It was also said that Word is the Light of all mankind. He is the light that shines in the darkness because He is Life. John 1:11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him-He owns the world because it was made through Him.

DIFFERENT BELIEF OF JESUS –Jehovah Witness: For them Jesus, came from the spirit of Michael Archangel whose power is not equal to God. Angels are creation of God and created under the power of the Word of God. Iglesia ni Cristo :They deny the divinity of Jesus Christ and that God created Jesus to do miraculous work for Him (the Father). They do not believe in the trinity of the Holy Spirit. They claimed that the Holy Spirit is some kind of an impersonal force. Therefore, for them Jesus is a man, but a servant of God to fulfill His will.

WHY DID HE COME DOWN TO EARTH?-We are born of sinful nature that we acquired from Adam and Eve. During the time of Moses, they offered animals for the forgiveness of sins. However, the people did not really made sincere atonement for their sins because they can anyway ,offer blood of animals for forgiveness of sins. God, promised that He will make a new covenant with the people for them to obey Him, because God wants obedience and not offerings. Still, our God is a covenant God who never forgets His promises, even if people delicted the covenant. In Jeremiah 31 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah,33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Therefore, Jesus was the new covenant of God for the people. God loves us so much that He keeps on trying to make a way for the people to obey Him, to come back to Him.

ATTRIBUTES OF JESUS-In Isaiah 42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations.2 He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street;3 a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice.4 He will not grow faint or be discouraged[a] till he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his law.

In 2 Corinthian 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Jesus bore our sins, so that we become righteous in the eyes of our God.

In Hebrew 10:7-10, Jesus said 7 Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll— I have come to do your will, my God.’ ” 8 First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”—though they were offered in accordance with the law. 9 Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second. 10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Thus Jesus became flesh and was born to Mary and Joseph. John 1:10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. In Isaiah 53 2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. Imagined a plant planted on dry ground, how does it look? This was the reason why Jesus was despised and was not acknowledged by the people. Even He had shown wonders and miracles and had shown people many things about God.

JESUS -IS GOD OR NOT?-If Jesus were not God, how can He endured such tortuous, agonizing, excruciating body pain He had at the Calvary of Cross (nakakaiyak pag binasa mo how He was tortured by the Roman soldiers-from the time of scourging to the cross at Calvary). Just imagined the thorny crown at yung lakas ng hampas ng pamalo-which was made of braided leather thongs with metal balls and pieces of sharp bone woven or intertwined (according to History) which almost lacerated His skin, but there was not a single complaint from Him. No mortal person can endure such hardship, baka sa thorny crown palang na isuksuk sa ulo mo ay mawalan ka na ng malay. The nail that nailed His hands and feet, and I’m sure these were crude nails, who would ever bear such pain. Jesus knows how much sufferings He would undergo, so He prayed to the Father, kung pwedeng alisin ang pahirap na darating , but as He said to the Father'”Your will be

ON JESUS DEATHIt was customary to the Romans to break the legs of a person if sentenced to die by crucifixion. They say that it is a mercy to the people to break the legs for a quicker death. However in the case of Jesus, His legs were not broken as prophesied In John 19:36-37,  These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of His bones will be broken. Instead one of the soldier (they named Longinus, but not the actual name),thrust a spear on His side to confirm that Jesus was already dead: blood and water came out from His body. In  John 19: 37 – and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.” That soldier was a testimony that Jesus was the Messiah as prophesied in Zechariah 12:10-14, 10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for Him as one grieves for a firstborn son. 11 On that day the weeping in Jerusalem will be as great as the weeping of Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.

That soldier Longino, suffered much after his testimony and belief that that Jesus nailed on the Cross was the Messiah they have been waiting for.

DO YOU KNOW JESUS?-Kilala mo ba si Jesus?. Siya ay makikilala mo lamang kung Siya’s hahanapin mo at mahahanap mo lamang Siya kung babasahin mo ang Salita ng Dios which is the Scripture-. So, sinakop Niya lahat ng kasalanan ng mundo-which is superfluos. Imagined,He took all the sins of the world, para tayo ay luminis at maging marapat dapat sa Ama. Kaya yung tinanggap Niyang sobrang pasakit sa Calvary of the Cross ay walang kapantay na sakit.  Kaya before the day of the Crucifixion , He pray to the Father, in Matthew 26:39- Going a little farther, He fell with His face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as Your will.” This, they say is the Greatest Prayer of all, because this is the prayer of success of Jesus mission on earth. So, it was through Jesus that our sins are forgiven. So it was only through Jesus that we can be saved.  The pope, the priest, the saints, Mary, cannot save us from sins because they are not God. They were just like us created by God and are sinful just like anyone man.

In John 1:12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

Ibig sabihin, kapag tinanggap natin si Jesus at nanalig sa Kanya na Siya ang tagapagligtas, tayo ay masasabing anak ng Dios-doesnt mean born of biological parents, but born of God. So, if Father God can now call us His sons and daughters, we have the right to call Him ,”Father”. Therefore, sa mga hindi pa tumatanggap kay Jesus bilang Tagapagligtas, narito ang maikling panalangin (pattern only).

” Father in Heaven, I come to you in Jesus name. Please forgive me for my sins.I  believed that  Your son Jesus died for my sins and was resurrected from the dead I invite Jesus to come into my life and be the my Lord and Savior and to  reign my life forever. In Jesus mighty Name, I pray. Amen.”

In Romans 10:9-10 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

However, after accepting Jesus, it doesn’t mean you have to stop from there. Sabi nga Niya in Matthew 16:24-2624 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

I have been contemplating on these 2 things: Prosperity and Sufferings. There are a lot of verses about Prosperity and Abundance in the Old Testament.God has enriched the great men of the Bible, such as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.David too, was richly blessed of material things by God. However when I read about the New Testament, it’s about endurance and sufferings. Paul, specially had so much sufferings in his missions to spread about Jesus among the gentiles. One time when he asked the Lord Jesus to take out the Thorns in his flesh done by evil spirit(sometimes the evil spirit are made instrument by God for His purpose), Jesus said to Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, 9“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”  And Paul said ,10  That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Here is another  sufferings of Paul. In Acts 9:15-1615,”But the Lord said to him, “Go, for this man is a chosen instrument of Mine to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the descendants of Israel; For I will make clear to him how much he will be afflicted, must endure, and suffer for My name’s sake.”  Amplified Bible

The church teaches us The prosperity doctrine which says, “True prosperity is the ability to use God’s power to meet the needs of mankind in any realm of life, ”and ,“We have been called to finance the gospel to the world.” This has been taught to the church to give more, in order to receive more. It says, that when we give we are not only being obedient, but also we have bless others  for them to know and praise God in return. The doctrine also teaches that God has put our sins, sickness, poverty, addiction, sorrows, in Jesus at the Calvary(we called the Atonement) For Prosperity doctrine believers, just like me(it is the desired doctrine),we became dependent to this doctrine in getting wealth through faith. It says ,”claim it, to have it”. That God wants us to prosper, to be healthy, to have joy as in the following  verses:

Jeremiah 29:11 11  For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

In Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

There are many verses in the Bible about prosperity and equally the same as sufferings. Most prosperity verses are in the Old Testament and most suffering verses are in the New Testament.

There also has been a lot of testimony in the church with regards to prosperity theology. There was one person who was continually blessed because she was giving and sharing her wealth to the needy. We may never know, but if her heart is fully intent in God’s will, then that might be coming from God. You know how Satan works on people. However, given that you are financially blessed and you are sharing it with the unfortunate ones, how can you say that you truly are a follower of Christ if you don’t bear sufferings on earth. Jesus said, 24“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me”. This is a very hard statement for Christ follower or I could say true Christians. Kaya most Christians fall on the seeds that fell into a rocky soil  or seed among thorns(remember the Parable of the Sower). I believe that each and every one has always cross to carry and if we endure this cross up to the very end, then we can say indeed that we are a true Christians or a follower of Christ.  We know that in  sufferings , we are cleanse, purify to be prepared for the coming of Christ. No sinful person can come up to Heaven. Jesus said, that “few chooses to enter the narrow gate” (KASI MASIKIP, MAGAGASGASAN KA, MAHIRAP LUMUSOT-try mo) What if these people who are richly blessed financially and one day struck by a crisis(sickness, bankruptcy, family problems, relationship, careers, etc.) in life. So, that’s where God will see, if she can endure the sufferings and still a candidate to go to heaven. Perhaps, I could say a person’s life has its ups and downs. There will be one time that you will be blessed, but one time in your life you will have sufferings as a test for you. Sometimes, I could say that God blessed some people for a certain purpose. If that is not your purpose in life-to be financially blessed you will still have some aspect of your life that is victorious.  If you are a true Christian, despite some lack in some areas of your life, you still have the peace and joy to live because of the faith and the promises of God for an eternal happiness with Him. Hindi naman lahat tinatanggal ng Dios sa yo. Just imagined kung lahat ay mayaman or kung lahat ay mahirap. In this regard, I could say  God made it perfect work for each and every one of us para mapili kung sino ang karapatdapat sa Kanyang Kaharian.
