PETER REVELATION OF JESUS-meaning

Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in Heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

20 Then He warned His disciples not to tell anyone that He was the Christ.

THAT WAS THE VERSE IN CONTEND AND MISUNDERSTOOD  AND MISQUOTED BY THE CATHOLIC. Jesus talks in parables that was hidden, so that people who will seek Him, will be given revelations and understanding of the meaning of the Words He’s spoken.

Peter actual name was Simon Barjona(which means easily swayed) , but Jesus gave him the name Peter, which means, rock. God has the habit of changing the name of a person to suit to his purpose in life. Abram, was given the name Abraham, which means Father of all nation.

WHY DID JESUS GAVE SIMON THE NAME PETER ?

Since Peter had the revelation of the Father in heaven, that Jesus is the Messiah(Savior), so that whoever has the same belief and faith as Peter, Jesus will build His church(group of believers of Christ). Therefore, if you have the same belief that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, then you are part of the churches that Jesus built. He said, that whoever is upon that rock (Jesus) , gates of hell cannot prevail. He will hold the key to Heaven and whatever you bound on earth, will be bound in Heaven. Whatever you loose on earth will be loose in Heaven.

Those statements by Jesus to Peter was revealed and realized by Peter upon receiving the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit that is on every believer, will be given the same revelations. If you have the holy spirit of God, evil cannot prevail, and revelations on how to be with the kingdom of God through as the cornerstone of faith . It is the authority given by Jesus to Peter and whose with same belief with  Peter will have the same authority.

WHAT IS THAT AUTHORITY THAT JESUS MENTIONED.

Jesus mentioned that evil cannot prevail, because Jesus had defeated death or Satan with His victory over the cross. Same power or authority has been given by God through the power of the Holy Spirit (ephesians 6).

Whatever they will bound on earth, will be bound in Heaven, whatever they will loose on earth will be loose in Heaven.

That power is the power of faith in the Messiah. Whatever you ask in Jesus name, with faith will be granted by the Father through Jesus, as was Jesus when He became man,so are the believers of Christ as the Messiah. Did it not Jesus said, that, “you can do things more than this”,when Jesus cursed the fig tree.
