We also follow Jesus because we can come to the Father through Him and ask something in prayer.
We also follow Jesus because we become children of God and we will have the right to call the Father, Our Father (SO , not everybody has the right to call the Father, Our Father)
He also said that, whatever we asked in His name it will be given, but we must not doubt, but believe that we will receive it. And, so is the song of Ascent, just look up to the mountain. Neither look sideward, look backward or down because of so many distractions along the path of our dream or desire. We just have the faith that we will receive what we have prayed, in Jesus name.
See the following verses:
John 14:13-14 – And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son
Matthew 21:22 – And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive
2 Corinthians 6- What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people. 17 Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”18 And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
So, if you believe in the idols, you don’t have the right to call the Father, your Father. Remember His first commandment.
John 1:12-13 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God
So, once we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we have the right to be called children of God, not of biological nature, but of God.
Luke 9:57-62-The cost of Following Jesus
57 As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” 58 Jesus replied, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” 59 He said to another man, “Follow me.” But the man replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” 60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” 61 Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say good-by to my family.” 62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”
In these verses we have 3 kinds of people who was invited to follow Jesus. First person says, that he would follow Jesus , however he did not really mean it. There are some Christians who would only come to fellowship because of some reasons like :friends na hindi matanggihan, or magoobserve lamang or for something else. i.e. may girl siyang kilala which he likes a lot and dahil Christians, he would follow the girl, would attend fellowship, but halfhearted . There is another one who consider first the family opinion. This happens normally if some members of the family opposed you to becoming a Christian, especially if the family member is your parents .Another one, would be making alibi to get rid of becoming a Christian because they were hardened with their belief of the true God.
When we follow Jesus, we do not have to look back at something that might be a distraction on our way to following Him. We should be fully committed to His works
Following Jesus and becoming part of His kingdom is a commitment. Let us not be the one considered by God as a heart that was hardened, an ears that cannot hear and have eyes that cannot see.
We have received miracles in our life even if we are not yet committed to the Lord. However, we do not see it as coming from God, but result of lack .
He says in John 12 :37-40 John 12:37-40,”37 Even after Jesus had done all these miraculous signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him.
38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: “Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” 39 For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere: 40 “He has blinded their eyes and deadened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn–and I would heal them.
Still, the Lord said, He would heal them” God never stops loving us even if you rejected Him. He keeps on appealing to you to come to Him using other people, but you do not see it. I used to be one of these people .And, since God loves me, He opened my eyes, so I can see, and hear what I needed to hear. And, now it’s my turn to share it to others.
JESUS SAID IFSOMEONE HAS EAR, LET THEM HEAR. I wish people would understand this message of the Lord.
